IDT students create a hand-painted tribute on Netaji's Jayanti
IDT students create a hand-painted tribute on Netaji's Jayanti A 10 by 6 feet hand-painted work of art, highlighting the major events from Netaji's life has been created by the first-year students at IDT on the occasion of his Jayanti. The artwork beautifully covers his struggles, his contributions and his achievements. His book "The Indian Struggle", the "Azad Hind Fauj", the "Rani of Jhansi Regiment"- the first women army of India are especially highlighted. His house arrest and his escape also attests to his bravery and have been wonderfully shown by the students. His famous quotes like "Freedom is not Given, it is Taken." and "Tum mujhe Khoon do mein tumhe Azaadi dunga." have also been hand-painted and portrayed creatively. The sudden demise of this great leader in a Plane crash also holds a place in the art-piece. IDT students have also used elements like thermacol to bring out a 3D effect in some parts of the painting like his uniform. Mr Anupam Goyal, Director of IDT urges fellow Indians to take inspiration from his undeniable and bold legacy and wake up the true patriot in themselves. He says, "This is just a small attempt of IDT to give a glimpse of Netaji's greatness to its students and the society and through it spread the ideals of unity and secularism that Netaji so firmly believed in."

"Birdie Kites" by IDT Students take over Uttarayan
Kite-flying is a significant part of the Uttrayan celebrations, but owing to the number of birds that die every year amid such celebrations, it has become one of the biggest man-made disasters in India. After a week of rigorous research, the students of IDT have come up with different ways to reduce this risk. They have created "Birdie Kites" using biodegradable cotton strings, substances like mint and garlic and incarnated visuals of owls, eagles and crocodiles to scare away the birds from the kite-flying areas. Red colour and scare tape have also been used. All these kites are self-made. It is conceptualized and brought into action by IDT Fashion Faculty Aarushi Upreti along with the support of her students Harihar, Ajit, Sagar, Disha and Kamya. As per the words of IDT Director Anupam Goyal, "With this initiative, we want to celebrate Sankranti in its true essence about letting the spirits and the kites soar high but at the same time also protect our little friends. We also urge each one of you to take all the precautions for the safety of these creatures and make your own "Birdie Kites" at home."
